|Route outline (key)|
The B6287 is a short link road between Bishop Auckland and the former A1 (now A167) at Ferryhill in County Durham. It mostly serves local villages, as the majority of traffic takes the A688 (which runs parallel through Spennymoor) or the A689 instead.
At the Ferryhill end the B6287 crosses a bridge over the A167, which runs in cutting, to reach a T-junction which marks the road's original end on the A1. When the cutting was built (the road was still numbered A1) the B6287 was extended along the old road in both directions.
