The B6256 is a short link road cutting off the corner between the A684 and A683 across the boundaries of Westmorland and the West Riding of Yorkshire to the west of Sedbergh.
The road starts at White Hall on the A684 and heads south, crossing the fields and then descending to a bridge over the River Lune. A short distance further on, the road ends at Four Lane Ends at a T-junction with the A683 (the fourth "lane" was a farm track to the right which no longer exists in its original form).
