This article is about the original use of the number, a short link in Brynmawr, Brecknockshire.
For the former use of the number, a short link in Hereford, see A4045 (Hereford).

The A4045 is described in the 1922 Road Lists as Nantyglo - Beaufort which makes the road seem far more important than it really was.
In fact, the A4045 was a link in the Brecknockshire town of Brynmawr. The A4044 ran east from the long-gone railway bridge at the northern end of Blaina Road to meet the A465 (present A4047); the A4045 ran west along Bailey Street and George Street with the same goal.
Owing to the short length of the road, it is not known exactly when the A4045 number became defunct. Certainly, it is now the B4248.
