The A4026 is a short link road on the northern edge of Sutton Coldfield. It has seen no route changes since its original classification in 1922.
The road starts at a roundabout on the A5127 (formerly A38) to the north of Sutton Coldfield. The road heads west along the Warwickshire-Staffordshire county boundary. Although the road appears urban there are in fact open fields behind the buildings on the right.
The road goes under the Cross City Line at Blake Street station (named after the A4026 itself) after which the buildings on the right give way to a golf course. After the houses come back the road reaches a set of traffic lights. The road ahead, the B4138, continues along the county boundary whilst the A4026 TOTSOs right. The open fields become visible and the road soon ends at a T junction on the A454.
