Looking NW along the B4210 from The Why Not at Springhill

The B4210 is a largely urban B-road running north of Walsall.

The northern half of the road, from the A462 at Springhill to the A34 at Bloxwich, was unclassified in the original 1923 road-numbering scheme but had gained its number by 1928.

The road had been extended south into Walsall near to the end of World War 2 (as the extension does not appear on the 1944 edition of the OS Ten Mile Road Map, but does appear on the 1946 edition) but along the present route of the A34 rather than its current route. Around 1987 the A34 and the B4210's southern half swapped their respective itineraries between Bloxwich and Walsall. Our road now leaves Blakenall Heath southeastward along the High Street, while the A34 follows Somerfield Road towards Leamore.
