The B1317 is an urban B-road in southeast Northumberland.
It starts on the A191 to the east of the centre of Longbenton and heads north. It goes under the metro by Benton station and then crosses the East Coast Main Line and goes through Forest Hall. It crosses the B1505 (formerly B1318) at a traffic-light-controlled staggered crossroads before crossing Killingworth Moor into Killingworth Village.
The B1317 now takes on a semi-rural aspect as it goes round the edge of the Tyneside suburb of Killingworth before it crosses the A19 without a junction. It ends a few hundred yards further on, at a T-junction on the B1322 on the edge of Backworth.
