This article is about the original route of the B3278 between St Austell and Newquay, in Cornwall.
For the later route between the A30 at Bridestow and the A386 at Shortacombe, in Devon, see B3278 (Devon).

The B3278 was practically a coast-to-coast route connecting the Cornish towns of St Austell and Newquay.
Owing to its importance, the road was quickly upgraded to Class I status, becoming the A3058 in the late 1920s. The section through Newquay (along East Street and Fore Street) has since been declassified.
