For the former A5068 that ran across Manchester, see A5068 (Manchester).
The A5068 is a link in Skelmersdale, Lancashire, forming one of the main north-south roads in the New Town.
The route starts at junction 4 of the M58 (which also provides access to a business park) and heads north along the D2 Glenburn Road. As always with a new town, we can now try to spot unbuilt sections and future-proofing. In fact, the carriageways soon split either side of a roundabout junction with the B5312 (Hope Island), suggesting that this was planned to be a GSJ. The A5068 continues north and bears slightly left before the carriageways separate once more on the approach to the terminus roundabout, the huge Halfmile Island, where we end on the A577. Clearly something was once planned for the far side - but we're now on the northern edge of town and the S2 road ahead is unclassified.
