For another A5080, a road from Liverpool to Warrington, see A5080 (Liverpool - Warrington).
The A5080 is a short A-road running into Northampton town centre from the north. The road was originally unclassified, although it soon became the B5347. It gained Class I status by the 1980s. The road's current number is debatable. Certainly the A5080 number is a duplicate (with the original in south Lancashire), with the road marked on some maps as part of the A5095. Official documentation tends to favour the A5080 number and signage is completely unhelpful.
The road starts at traffic lights on the A508 in the Kingsthorpe Hollow area of town. It heads west along Burleigh Road then south along St Andrew's Road. Several residential roads bear off left but there is nothing on the right. Presently traffic lights are reached where the A428 is crossed. The road continues past the railway station to cross the original line of the A45 at traffic lights; this is now closed to through traffic. The road ends just afterwards at another set of lights on the A4500. A5080 traffic is forced to turn left towards the town centre; there is a similar restriction in the other direction.
