The A5052 is a short urban A-road in Liverpool running slightly inland from the River Mersey. It is dual carriageway throughout.
The road starts by the Princes Dock at a signalised TOTSO on the A5036 and heads northeast along King Edward Street. It ends soon afterwards at a crossroads on the A565 by the Beetham Tower. Although the layout of the crossroads suggests that the A5052 is the main route, on the other side of the crossroads the road is numbered A5053.
