In the original 1922 road numbering, A5035 was allocated to Link in Hazel Grove, placing it just south of Stockport in northern Cheshire.
In fact, the A5035 was a tiny route simply linking the A6 running through the town to Hazel Grove railway station along Hatherlow Lane, and its short nature makes it almost impossible to ascertain from map evidence exactly when it became an unclassified road. It is not shown as classified on later maps of large enough scale to show the road, suggesting it was downgraded early on.
