|Route outline (key)|
The A66(M) is a motorway spur (known as the Blackwell Spur) forming part of the route between Scotch Corner and Darlington. It opened in 1965 along with the rest of the A1(M) in the area. The road's eastern end is on a roundabout on the pre-motorway route of the A1; this is now unclassified to the south.
The original construction orders referred to the road as the Darlington Spur Special Road
