The unbuilt Belmont Link Motorway was a short motorway link from the proposed Prospect Hill Interchange on the M6 to the A675 south of Higher Walton. It was proposed as part of the 1949 Road Plan for Lancashire, and had its line confirmed by the Ministry in 1960, but no construction contracts were ever granted. Any need for the Belmont Link Motorway has been made redundant by the M65/A675, M65/A666, M61/A6027/A673 and M61/A58 routes.
