King William Street, in Tunstall, Stoke-on-Trent, was originally numbered B5052. It therefore acted as a convenient town-centre bypass, as it allowed traffic to pass from the A50 in the south to the A527 in the north without going through the town centre itself.
The road number did not last beyond the 1980s. Following road improvements in Tunstall and the completion of Scotia Road, the southern end of King William Street was blocked off, declassifying the road and leaving it as purely residential.
