The B5070 is a short link road on the border between England and Wales.
The road starts on the A5 at Bryn-er-Eos to the north of Chirk and heads south through the town along the pre-bypass route of the A5. On the southern edge of town the B4500 bears off right then our road zigzags down, crosses into Shropshire and then goes across the River Ceiriog (which marks the border for a few miles except at this exact point).
After climbing out of the valley the road runs parallel to the Llangollen Canal for a short distance before reaching the other end of the A5 Chirk bypass. This marks the original western end of the B5070. We cross the A5 and head east for a short distance before the road ends on the B5069 at St Martin's Moor, where the other road TOTSOs.
History
As noted above, originally it was just the last, eastern, section of the route that was classified as the B5070, from the A5 into St Martins. However, when the Chirk bypass was built, the route was extended along the full length of the old A5 through the town.
