The 1966 OS Quarter Inch map shows the B4470
By the 1969 edition, the road has been upgraded to A4212
The B4470 is listed in Department for Transport road lists as Reserved for new Class 2 road. (Trawsfynydd - Cwm Prysor - Bryn Maen.), making it a rural road in north Merionethshire. This road came into being in the 1960s when a previously existing minor road and track were upgraded to form a through route from the then-A487 to the B4391 and the controversial new reservoir at Llyn Celyn whose building was a catalyst for the construction of the B4470.
The road was short-lived, being renumbered A4212 in 1968.
