This article is about the provisional number for the former A49 through Ludlow.

The B4456 number was planned to be allocated to the original route of the A49 through the Shropshire town of Ludlow, following that road's rerouting onto the eastern bypass.
However, this number was not actually used. Instead, the B4361 (which the pre-bypass road met near Overton) was extended along the old road, giving that road the spur that exists today.
