The B4478 is a short urban road in the Ebbw Vale area. Its history is not fully known although the road certainly gained Class II status by the 1940s.
The road starts at a roundabout by Tesco to the north of town, where it meets the A4046 and A4281. We follow Letchworth Road through an industrial estate and into the residential area. After a left-hand bend the road becomes lined with terraced housing and continues through the suburbs in a similar fashion.
We continue along the side of the valley along Eureka Place, where at times there is not enough space for houses on the left. Soon we bear left to reach a T-junction. This is the original southern end of the road on the A4046 but now that road has been moved out of town we TOTSO right onto its old route and so follow Church Street to the south before leaving town along Victoria Road to end at a T-junction on the present A4046.
