The B5200 is a loop off the A57 to serve the centre of the Lancashire town of Prescot. Although it meets that road at both ends it is not the pre-bypass route of the road: the routes of the A57 and B5200 in Prescot have not changed since classification in 1922.
The road starts at a roundabout on Warrington Road. It heads west along Kemble Street, signposted Prescot Town Centre. After passing an exit to a shopping centre car park the road reaches a T-junction. Theoretically the B5200 TOTSOs right - but right turns are prohibited here and the road in that direction is pedestrianised.
The B5200 continues along the pedestrian area (which is open to buses and taxis). It goes round two sides of the church, along the Market Square and Church Street (which as well as being pedestrianised is also one-way in the other direction). Eventually the pedestrian zone ends and the road TOTSOs left onto West Street. It ends at the far end of the road at a triangular junction with the A57 Liverpool Road.
