The B5205 is a largely rural link road in south Lancashire.
The route starts at a mini-roundabout on the A571 in the 20-zone in the centre of Billinge and heads west; the speed limit goes up to 30 almost immediately. The road quickly enters open country and continues across flat land.
The road bends left to enter the village of Crank from the north. It TOTSOs right on the near edge of the village, with the road ahead being the B5201. The route then continues its westerly direction and soon enters Rainford. It turns left at a mini-roundabout before entering another 20-zone and ending immediately afterwards at the next mini-roundabout on the B5203 (the pre-bypass A570).
