For the original B5280 in the Furness area of the same county, see B5280 (Furness).
The B5280 is a short link road to the northeast of Southport town centre. It was originally unclassified but seems to have gained its number around 1960.
The road starts at a roundabout on the A565 on the eastern side of Hesketh Park. That road goes round the northern side of the park whilst the B5280 follows the southern side; confusingly both roads are called Park Crescent as they skirt the park.
We head southwestwards, curving gently round to the right as we keep Hesketh Park on our right; the left-hand side of the road is residential. On reaching the corner of the park there's a slight bend to the left and then the road becomes straight. A road bears off to the right at this point, still along the edge of the park, signed to the town centre and Liverpool via the A565; although our road is classified it is not as important.
The B5280 continues southwest along Queens Road: a straight, wide road with houses - and the occasional hotel - set back on either side. A church tower is visible in the distance. Presently traffic lights are reached where the road ends on the B5245. Holy Trinity Church itself is on the far side of the lights.
