For the actual use of the number in Rotherham, see B6410.
According to the Ordnance Survey Six Inch sheet Lancashire CIV.SW, revision 270/46, the B6410 number was once allocated to Talbot Road in Stretford, Lancashire.
This appears to be unlikely as this road is entirely west of the A6, and therefore should have a number starting with "5". By the time of the refreshed 1:10,560 map sheet of the area (sheet SJ89NW, Revision A, 1956), the number shown is B5410. The B6410 number had also already allocated to the route in Rotherham before 1932, so this would have been a duplicate.
As the number appears twice on the sheet - once at either end of the road, it is entirely possible that there was a typo on the data from which the OS draughtsman was working from, as the immediate post-war Six Inch sheets were the first at that scale to carry road numbers. It should also be noted that on the adjacent sheet (Cheshire IX.NE, revision 270/46) the number shown on Talbot Road is B5410.
