|Route outline (key)|
The number B858 was formerly used for the road connecting Torridon and Annat to the A832 at Kinlochewe. The road started to the west of Torridon by the pier on Loch Torridon (from where an unclassified road headed west along the shore) and headed east through the village, after which it met an unclassified road to Annat. It then followed Glen Torridon to the watershed before descending to its terminus at Kinlochewe.
The new road from the eastern side of Torridon via Annat and on to Shieldaig was opened in 1962/3, meaning that the B858 and its neighbour the B857 from Lochcarron to Shieldaig were both renumbered as the new A896. The westernmost section of the ex-B858 in Torridon itself is now unclassified.
