For the former B859 in Dingwall, see B859 (Dingwall).
The 1922 Road Lists states that the B859 originally ran from the A835 at Braemore Junction through Gruinard to Poolewe, which was also the original northern terminus of the A832. The road followed a winding route through the glens, with coastal sections along, and frequently high above, Little Loch Broom, Gruinard Bay and Loch Ewe leading to the road's terminus.
The road was short-lived. By 1932 and probably a lot earlier, the A832 had been extended along the full length of the erstwhile B859, leaving that number available for later re-use in Dingwall. Since being renumbered, the former route of the B859 has been almost completely rebuilt from what was almost certainly largely a single track road into a modern S2, albeit the geography of the landscape sometimes forcing some sharp bends and steep hills to be retained.
