For the former B858 to Torridon in Wester Ross, see B858 (Torridon).
The B858 is the route formerly taken through Drymen by the A811, which now bypasses the village. It is not a particularly exciting route, starting and finishing on the A811, and doing little of interest in between. After climbing up from the A811 to the south, it meets the B837 in Drymen village centre, which heads towards Balmaha on the eastern shore of Loch Lomond. The road then curves sharply round to the right in the village square, and heads out of town once more, taking a final sharp right turn to rejoin the A811, the old line of that road continuing ahead as property accesses.
Until fairly recently, Drymen village centre still boasted a green sign for "Stirling A811". In many places this road would have been renumbered as part of the B837, incorporating a spur. However, for some reason it was felt that a separate number was required.
