The B5312 number was allocated to a road that was to become an inner relief road to Lichfield city centre in Staffordshire. Closely following the railway, it initially followed Birmingham Road and Station Road, before Station Road was bypassed with an extension to Birmingham Road. Briefly, therefore, the B5312 followed both routes, before Birmingham Road was upgraded to become the A5127, with Station Road becoming unclassified.
