For the original B1036 in Harwich, see B1036 (Harwich).
The B1036 is a fairly short B-road in the Essex New Town of Basildon; the road presumably dates to the growth of the town in the 1970s.
The road starts at a roundabout on the B148 in the Southfields industrial area. The road heads south past the Dunton Park housing estate and over the railway line to reach another roundabout, where it turns left. The road now continues east, with the railway line to the left and housing to the right, although neither is particularly visible.
The second roundabout is part of a simple GSJ providing access to an unclassified north-south road and also Laindon station. After the roundabout the road is D2 as it goes under the bridge, then the road narrows as it passes through a wooded area. It's not long before the road reaches traffic lights on the B1007 and ends, with traffic forced to turn left; similarly the B1036 can only be accessed from the westbound B1007.
