The C37n starts at a mini roundabout on the B729 in Dunscore and heads west, following Kirk Gate then Black Brae through the village. The route crosses the Cairn Water at Dalgonar Bridge, then turns right at the T junction at Milton to follow the Glenesslin Burn up stream, curving between the hills to reach the old county boundary at Lettrick. The C37s then takes over, the road eventually reaching the A712.
