|Route outline (key)|
The C11n is a lengthy road running north from the edge of Dumfries to Auldgirth on the banks of the River Nith. The route starts then just north of the roundabout on the A701 at Heathhall and heads northwards, running along the edge of the wide valley floor of the Nith. At the fork, it keeps right to head into the small village of Kirkton, and then continues north west along the long straight at Duncow. The road then becomes a little twistier as it climbs Souterhill Brae to Dalswinton, from where it drops back down to the river bank at Auldgirth. The A76 has been realigned over a new bridge, removing two sharp bends and changing the junction a little.
