This article is about the Class III road numbered C99a maintained by Dumfries and Galloway Council.
For other roads numbered C99, see C99.
For other roads numbered C99, see C99.
The C99a starts on the A708 to the east of Moffat's town centre and heads south along the Old Carlisle Road. After leaving the town behind, the route keeps left at the first fork to cross the Moffat Water. It then follows the east bank of the River Annan south, crossing over the railway a little beyond where the river passes under it. After passing through the scattered village of Newton, the route finally leaves the river as it passes behind Dinwoodie Hill. It's then not much further to the end of the route on the B7076 near Dinwoodie Lodge, even if the council list says that it ends on the motorway itself!
