The C26s starts on the A711 near Kirkcarsewell and heads north west to cross the Abbey Burn at Drumboy Bridge. Turning westwards, it meanders over the hills, past scattered farms and houses before crossing the Buckland Burn at Buckland Bridge. A final short climb takes it over the ridge to meet the B727 at the hairpin bend above Kirkcudbright
