This article is about the Class III road numbered C76a maintained by Dumfries and Galloway Council.
For other roads numbered C76, see C76.
For other roads numbered C76, see C76.
The C76a starts on the A7 a little to the north of Langholm and heads east, climbing steeply round a sharp bend to find the gap between Whita Hill and Tarrona Hill. The descent is more gently as it winds down the contours to cross the Tarras Water. The route then starts climbing again, the ascent getting steeper the higher it gets, before it levels out on Burrowstown Moss. The route comes to an end at the council boundary at the summit, but the road continues, eventually dropping down to meet the B6357 in Newcastleton.
