C86a (Dumfries and Galloway)
|Location Map ( geo)|
|Distance:||2.3 miles (3.7 km)|
|Route outline (key)|
The C86a starts on the B7068 at Scroggs and heads south west, curving round Pisgah Hill as it follows the Water of Milk downstream. Road and river slowly diverge, before the road reaches the railway at Gibsons. The road then passes under the railway and formerly dipped to cross the burn and meet the old A74 at Castlemilk Bridge. However, with the coming of the motorway, the road has been diverted and now follows the railway south, before passing under the A74(M) just before the railway bridge, almost immediately ending on the B7076 at Castlemilkgates.
