This article is about the Class III road numbered C60a maintained by Dumfries and Galloway Council.
For other roads numbered C60, see C60.
For other roads numbered C60, see C60.
The C60a starts on the B7068 at Bankshill and heads south, climbing steadily up alongside the Burnhead Burn to find a slight dip in the hills at Shawhill. The route then descends more gently, following a long ridge all the way down to the B725 at Middlebie. The route then doglegs left across the staggered crossroads and climbs up above the B road, slowly diverging as it heads south east. The railway line comes alongside at Broadlea, and soon after the route comes to an end on the B722 near Eaglesfield. Prior to the construction of the Motorway, the C60a used to cross the railway here to meet the A74, but there have been major changes to the roads here, and the old railway bridge long since replaced by a new one carrying the B722.
