The C9n starts on the A709 at Torthorwald and heads north, following High Road across the hillside before it dips down into Tinwald. It keeps right at the junction to reach the A701 at Amisfield, crosses it and continues northwards to meet the C3n at Packburn Bridge near Amisfield Tower.
