For an earlier A1070 in Colchester, see A1070 (Colchester).
For the disputed A1070 that ran along Fairlands Way, Stevenage, see A1070 (Fairlands Way, Stevenage).
The A1070 runs along part of Six Hills Way in the Hertfordshire New Town of Stevenage.
The road starts at a grade-separated roundabout on the A1072, where the unclassified Six Hills Way comes out of the Horizon Technology Park opposite. The A1070 heads east along a brief section of dual-carriageway, crossing over the East Coast Main Line to end at a roundabout on the A602 on the edge of the town centre. The original A1 Great North Road is crossed just before the roundabout although road improvements in Stevenage have rendered it difficult to spot (look to the left and you may see a grassed-over bridge carrying nothing over a cycle path: this was the A1!).
The Six Hills themselves are just to the right of the roundabout and Six Hills Way continues ahead. However, this is the A602.
