The Ridgeway, nearing the M25

The A1005 crosses Enfield Chase in north Middlesex.

The road starts at a mini-roundabout on the A110 in World's End, with St Mary Magdelene's church on the corner. The road then heads north along The Ridgeway, a street name that will last for its entire length. It takes about a mile to get out of the urban area and then follows an undulating course across open fields, broken by the small village of Botany Bay.

Presently the road reaches the roundabout at M25 J24, where it also meets the A111, and ends. Originally the road continued ahead to meet the A1 (now A1000) in Potters Bar itself as the A111 came later. For some years the A111 ended on the A1005 but now the reverse is true.
