The B4048 is a short B-road in the northeastern suburbs of Bristol. Its route has not changed since classification in 1922, despite a transformation in the area through which it runs, which was still semi-rural in the 1920s.
Starting at traffic lights on the A432 in the Fishponds area of town, the road heads southeastwards along Lodge Causeway, immediately crossing the Bristol and Bath Railway Path (which follows the route of the former Midland Railway's Mangotsfield and Bath line, closed in the 1960s). The road is almost entirely suburban and residential in character. There is a signalized crossroads with the B4465 before Cossham Hospital is passed on the right and the road ends at a junction with the A4017 (where the latter road TOTSOs in the northbound direction).
