The original B4045 was the route north out of Keynsham in Somerset, crossing the River Avon. It linked what was then the A36 (which at that point formed the boundary between zones 3 and 4) to the A431 at Willsbridge, now on the eastern edge of the Bristol urban area.
The road became part of the B4427 in the 1935 renumberings, but is now part of the A4175.
