The B705 is a secondary road in East Ayrshire linking Catrine with the A76 in both directions. It was originally unclassified but gained its present number before 1932.
The route starts on the A76 on the southern edge of Mauchline. It heads southeast along Catrine Road and soon enters open country. On reaching Ballochmile Golf Club the road turns sharply left and makes a long detour to the north to skirt a new housing estate, then zigzags into a valley (if the road had remained straight it would have needed a steep hill here). It's not long before we reach Catrine.
The road enters town along Mauchline Road and then bears sharply left to run alongside the River Ayr for a while before crossing it. On the far side the B713 comes in from the right and the B705 is now the dominant partner in a short multiplex as we climb out of town. The B713 turns off left on the edge of open country and the B705 continues southeastwards across the fields. It contours a couple of hills before going through a wood to enter Auchinleck. Heading south along the traffic-calmed Sorn Road,we reach the end of the route at a mini-roundabout on the B7083 (the pre-bypass A76).
