For the original B785 further north, see B785 (Largs - Lochwinnoch).
The B785 is a link road in North Ayrshire. It was originally unclassified but had gained its present number by 1932.
The route starts at a T junction on the A737 on the eastern edge of Kilwinning town centre, a short distance south of a similar junction with the B778. It heads east along Fergushill Road, passing houses and across an area of parkland. Beyond the park, most of the houses are set back behind service roads, but it isn't long before the edge of town is reached. The B785 then continues along a fairly straight road across flat farmland. Presently the road bends sharply right by a farm and follows a winding course across the Lugton Water. A short distance further on there's another sharp right-hand bend, leading to a short straight into the small settlement of Benslie. There is a tiny bypass for most of the village, which appears to date from World War Two. The route then skirts a wood, and after a few more sinuous bends across the fields a T-junction is met on the A736. The B785 ends here, just north of the outskirts of Irvine.
