For the original B707, mostly in West Lothian, see B707 (Mid Calder - Philpstoun).
The B707 is a link road between Auchentiber and Dalry in North Ayrshire.
The route starts at a simple T junction on the A736 just to the north of the tiny settlement of Auchentiber, and heads west along a long, narrow straight across the rough fields of Auchentiber Moss; there is the air of being on an unclassified route. After a left kink it becomes twistier, winding past a scattering of houses at Auchenmade. The route then crosses a crossroads, and a little beyond it a disused railway line as it dips down to cross the Dusk Water. The route then heads vaguely northwestwards across the fields, dotted with patches of woodland, passing a number of isolated buildings but no settlements of any size, although the views tend to be pleasant. After passing the small group of houses and farms at Kerslochmuir, it kinks left at a junction to pass Highfield Farm. Just beyond, the route suddenly widens and gains a white line as it dips down to a junction. Here the route has to TOTSO right, and after barely a hundred metres, it comes to an end at the Highfield Roundabout on the A736 a little to the east of Dalry. As this last section is all a new road built with the Dalry Bypass, it does beg the question of why the B road was still forced to TOTSO - both roads could have joined the roundabout.
History
The route was originally unclassified but had gained its present number by 1932, the previous incarnation of the B707 still existing in 1927. The only change to the route has happened at the western, Dalry end. Before the Dalry bypass opened in 2021, the route used to extend a little further, although you'd be forgiven for thinking it was an unclassified minor road. There was, as there still is, a TOTSO where the B707 turned right, although its location was much closer to the roundabout. The route then dropped down the narrow lane past Coalheughglen Farm to meet the old line of the A737, now the B714 at the T junction at the bottom.
