The original route of the B995, as classified in 1922, headed east from the A96 at Kintore, following the River Don downstream to end on the B996 at Hatton of Fintray.
This route, along with the B996 to the east, was renumbered in the mid-1930s as part of an extended B977, which it remains.
The 1922 MOT Road List defines this route as: Kintore - Junction with B996 near Hatton of Fintray
