The B962 is a short link road in south Angus.
The route starts at a mini-roundabout on the A930 on the northern edge of Monifieth and road heads north east along Panmure Street, quickly leaving the town. It winds gently across the fields and climbs to reach the A92 at Ardestie Junction, a GSJ with the dual carriageway passing overhead and sliproads connecting the two routes in opposite corners. On the far side of the junction, the B962 continues to climb through fields before reaching a junction a quarter mile south of the village of Newbigging. The road ends here, at the point where the southwestbound B961 Pitairlie Road TOTSOs right into Drumsturdy Road.
History
Thanks to a new alignment of Barry Road being built for the A930 in the 1970s, the B962 has been ever so slightly reduced in length at Monifieth, where it used to start at the Ramsay Street Junction one block to the west. Heading out of town, there is an obvious realignment at Ashbank where the old road is now the entrance to the cattery. This was probably built to improve the connection to the new A92 junction. Indeed, the old road line crosses the new at an acute angle, and crosses the field to Mains of Ardestie, where it reappears as part of the road round the farm. The original line through the junction with the A92 has, however, been lost by the construction of the junction.
An amended OpenStreetMap trace for this route awaits uploading to the SABRE Wiki.
