The B49 is one of a number of short B roads in the shore area of Old Laxey. It follows the Promenade along the shore, starting on the B60, Tent Road next to the old Harbour, and heads south east along the shore. The northern end of the route is wide with a large parking area, but after passing the junction with the B51, Shore Road, the route becomes steadily narrower, until it ultimately becomes a single track road running along the top of the beach. It appears that the B49 ends at this point, the narrow section being unclassified, as it is without a turning area at the end.
