The B9 is a short route which bypasses Ballaugh, but in such a way that is only useful for a very limited number of journeys. It starts on the A10 at an elongated crossroads, with the A13 meeting the A10 a short distance to the north. The small settlement of The Cronk lies a short distance to the west, but after passing a couple of houses, the B9 is out amongst the fields, heading south, A short link road connects back to the A10, which is only very slowly diverging, after which a long straight leads to a slightly more sinuous section. At length, another house is passed, and then the route swings round to head east, crossing the old railway line and passing a few more properties. It ends soon after at an east facing fork on the A3. Despite being of relatively little use to anyone, the route is a full two lanes wide throughout.
