The B17 is a very short route through Churchtown and past Lezayre Church, meeting the A3 at both ends. It looks as though it could be the original line of the A3, although mapping evidence suggests both roads are old. The route starts opposite a private drive at a crossroads in front of the parish war memorial and curves around the south side of the churchyard, passing the church and a few houses. A vast cemetery then spreads across both sides of the road, which is penned in between old stone walls. More large, old, detached houses follow as the B17 drops back to the A3, meeting it at a sharp fork junction.
