This article is about the original B36, now the A31 at Cregneash.
For the current B36 at Eairy, see B36 (Isle of Man).
For the current B36 at Eairy, see B36 (Isle of Man).
The original B36 was a very odd route, for the simple reason that it seems to be a part of the concurrent B31. Both routes ran from Cregneash down to Calf Sound, although the B31 started further east at Port St Mary, while the B36 was only the western end of the route from Cregneash. No explanation for this bizarre situation has been discovered, but by 1963 the route had been renumbered as the A31.
The Manx Government Circular 1814 of 17/08/1937 defines this route as: Cregneish Road, Rushen from Cregneish to the Sound
