The original B21 started on the A5 at Colby and headed north, climbing steadily up to Round Table, before dropping steeply down to the west coast at Dalby. It then followed the coast north through Glen Maye to Peel, where it ended in the square with the A1. It was the second longest of the B roads in the original batch classified. The whole route was renumbered as the A27 before 1963.
The Manx Government Circular 1131 of 25/02/1926 defines this route as: Colby to Peel via Round Table
