The original B8 started on the B7 at East Jurby and headed south east to meet the B4 (now the A13) to the east of Sandygate. It was renumbered as the B4 before 1963, although the B8 number was re-used a couple of miles away at Sulby.
The Manx Government Circular 1131 of 25/02/1926 defines this route as: Ballahasney-road—Smithy to Loughmolla-road
